Impressive 19th century giltwood and gilt gesso oval mirror with girandoles c1880. Oval plate set within an oval concave giltwood frame with applied gilt gesso detail to inner and outer edges, and applied gilt gesso floral garlands to front. Surmounted by a large scalloped shell and ribbon bow with asymmetric decoration of oak and olive swags to either side. Base of neoclassical design with gilt gesso acanthus leaf decoration to either side. The mirror has three sinuous girandoles with acanthus leaf detail terminating in sconces of neoclassical design. Maximum dimensions are 92 cm height by 50 cm width. Oval plate measures 53 cm by 41 cm. A stunning mirror with four brass mounting tabs ready to be hung in the home.
