A fine Georgian satinwood inlaid demi-lune card table c1790. Its top is of crown-cut satinwood with a segmented freeze of quarter-cut satinwood and mahogany crossband. Central sand-shaded satinwood and green-heart fan inlay with box and ebony line and inlaid rosewood accents. Demi-elliptical top opens to reveal a green baize playing surface bordered by mahogany crossbands. Satinwood apron framed by rosewood crossbands and defined along its lower edge by an ebony-satinwood-ebony line detail. Square tapered satinwood legs are rosewood banded surmounted by oval box inlays with contrasting rosewood borders. Elegantly tapered legs terminate in satinwood spade feet. Rear legs are articulated with rule joints to the rear frame member and exhibit inset baize-covered pads to protect top when open. Exceptional satinwood figuring throughout with beautifully aged satinwood honey tones and retaining its original finish. The table is 74 cm in height, 107 cm width and 45.5 cm in depth (opening to 91 cm).
