Exceptionally striking pewter bowl designed by Oliver Baker for Liberty & Co’s “Tudric” range, c1905. The bowl has four cast pewter ribbed and scrolled outstanding supports with trifed feet. Stamped marks to base marks with design number 067. Measures 33 cm in width and 10.5 cm in height.

 

Oliver Baker (1856-1939) was an English painter, etcher, designer and silversmith. He is perhaps best known for his designs for Liberty & Co early in the development of their Tudric range as well as for his role in the development of their Cymric Silverware line. Baker was born in Birmingham, the son of the artist Samuel Henry Baker. He studied under his father and at the Birmingham School of Art – regularly exhibiting at the Royal Academy from 1883.
